    Shipping cost 78.99 from Ireland

He's not selling the DVDs, he's selling a 'list' to where you can get them from.

If it looks too good to be true, it is.

If it seems to good to be true, it probably is. Only 12 feedbacks and joined 3rd of July. Online Buying/Auctions ftw. :)

In fairness he clearly states what he's selling if any of you actually read the description...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,061 ✭✭✭✭Terry

yes, but how many people are actually going to read the full description when they see "buffy box set £3"?

That was when they were first released I think and no one could get a hold of one. :)

"I have the box, all I need is the console now!"

Agreed. It's not like it's fantastically well hidden in the description, it's the very first line

I honestly don't understand this mentality, the overwhelming majority of these auctions for lists and boxes etc. are deliberate attempts to scam people; why on earth would you be up for the scammer?

    Best one yet

Big Brother UK had that get a golden ticket from a Kit Kat bar and be in with a chance of entering the house.

Some people auctioned off a normal Kit Kat bar with "might have a golden ticket" in the description and the bids were quite high. Quality

I don't think he is, just pointing out people should be more careful and not jump right into the "Buy It Now". A little bit of common sense, it really is their own problem if they get scammed.

Both posters stated that people buying "deserve" to be scammed; frankly, no, nobody "deserves" to be scammed, and it is not simply "their problem" if the auction is a deliberate attempt to scam them as this one seems to be (feedback history of 1p wins, etc.) It is primarily the scammer's problem, and ultimately, one would hope, the police and eBay's problem.

Im sorry but where exactly is the scam?
If I bid and win on an auction titled "Ping G2 Driver" and when it gets delivered it turns out that its not a Titleist driver but is in fact exactly as it was described, namely a Ping G2 driver, was I scammed?

    RTFD imo

why is it a matter for the police?

    he is selling a list

he states that its a list

is it his fault if someone doesnt read the description?

there is nothing illegal in that

He deliberately and fraudulently built up positive feedback from 1p auctions. Why, if he is completely legit?

I'd also note that more than one person on this thread missed the "list" part and thought they were actual box sets (although his descriptions are clearer now than when this thread first started.)

Feedback is publicly viewable on eBay with links to the original items, so yes, I do know this for a fact (also someone else mentioned it earlier in the thread.)

    http://feedback.ebay.ie/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedbackFromSellers&userid=wholesalelists69&items=-1&item=-1&de=off

1p auctions are a well-known way of gaming the eBay reputation system.

Yep I would never wish misfortune on anyone or say they deserved to be scammed but with anything you buy online, take the time to read up about it, do the research and normally that works. :)

yes a well known way, not a guaranteed way

its not a fact, you know nothing about the seller so dont try and claim he is scamming

he would be scamming if he had it in small print, or hidden in the text but in the first line, he states clearly what it is.
