    you know...... real friends

    working on that...

but life's a funny old thing.

It seems no one from cambridge, actually goes to university here, so all my friends (cause we finished university) have all moved back to their fair homes in places like kent and london and cornwall.

leaving my phone list much shorter then i thought...

i'm up to L with no luck.

i have a transporter like the one in star trek. but it only sends you one way, so you could actually stay in my house and then transport to cambridge, but you would have to make your own way back.

I can send you €1 if you'd like? I found one, and I don't trust it. It's like some sort of evil coin that brings terrible luck on people.
But forget I said that last bit.

What are hostels theses days? 10 euro for the night or something

You get to spend the night with 16 fat, bald and hairy men who snore.

****! Are you sorted? I was in that position recently. Damn scary. Now it wasn't as if I was going to be on the streets or anything but you still feel horribly vulnerable.

Living in Cambridge right now. PM me! As I am also renting I can't offer a room but I know that on the internal mailing list at the Sanger Institute there are often rooms available for short-term letting. Mrs r3nu4l may be able to find something although they may take issue renting to someone called BlitzKrieg! ;)

I don't get it - he lives in Cambridge UK or Cambridge, MA?? So why is he asking for a room on an Irish forum?

It's called social networking ;) I received a PM from another boardie alerting me to this thread as she had seen from my location that I am in Cambridge and wondered if I would be able to help out and I've offered some level of assistance as a result. There are plenty of Irish (and non-Irish) boards.ie users spread all over the world. I use boards as another avenue of finding out and discussing what's going on at home just like I listen to Today FM and Newstalk 106 for the same reasons.

Do not underestimate the power of da wuh,wuh,wuh.intarweb.thingy :)

Meh, Oxford, Cambridge, a little from column A, a little from Column B, all the Oxbridge types are pretty much the same tbh...

the last time we put a mate who was in a bit of a poxy suituation up his 'stay for a week or two until i get sorted' turned into him staying for three months, arsing around on the internet, smoking hash all day long while we worked to pay rent, bills, and put food on the table...

    ....never again....

    My ass is really sore.

Slept on a friend's couch last night

I feel like some sort of hobo living on a couch with all my stuff pilled up in the corner (including a television, PC, numerous games consoles and lots and lots of books.)

I'm living out of my briefcase...The first thing I will do when I do get my house is spend the first day *honouring* the shower.

Cause my friend is a school teacher and is gone for most of the day, if i leave the house I cant get back in until the evening, hence i must spend all today (been up since 9 trying to get into my new house by any means) wandering around cambridge in a daze...the heat doesnt help either.

At least I was smart enough to bring my towel and swimming shorts out with me, gonna take advantage of one of the pools to get myself cleaned up.

    anyway priority list.

-get my house (only have to wait till tomarrow they tell me.)
    -get a job
    -get a hairbrush
    -get a drink.

    Hey dude, here's an idea!

    Go here: http://www.couchsurfing.com/

Do a search for Cambridge, and see if anyone will let you stay for a night!

I got 12 results, surely one of them will take you on

I can almost empathise. I'm using a girl's room while she's gone travelling but all her cupboards, drawers etc are full so I'm living out of a suitcase too. At least I've got a room though. A couch in a living room that other people use - ****e. See about getting a key cut though. It's only a couple of quid.
And yeah, the heat is ****e in this situation. When it's sunny it's great but when it's suffocating, there's nothing pleasant whatsoever.
    It'll all be ok though.

it seems all i can pray for now is the irish postal service.

If a letter posted yesterday at around 5pm in a post office in Thurles Tipperary, Ireland

Arrives in Cambridge United Kingdom tomarrow before 5pm.

I can move into my new room without any further problems.

    If not...

    Have you talked to r3nu4l?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,698 ✭✭✭✭BlitzKrieg

yeah i have...i have somewhere to stay, its just a problem has entered the mix which is of the financial sort rather then the where the hell am i going to sleep sort.

hence the hushed prayers and constant blessing of self outside of church.

On a side note this has sparked the superstitous side of me.

On the morning of my flight i left behind this sort of medallion i wear as a sort of keepsake, now i have always been in 2 minds over it being lucky, or just a piece of jewelery.

    Guess it is lucky afterall...
