My girlfriend has just gone off the rails at me again which would make it the third time in seven days by my reckoning. It's the same argument over and over. She gets pissed off because shock horror I actually converse and go to the pub with the girls I work with. Girls, am I in the wrong or am I as I suspect in love (but rapidly falling out of) with a psychopath

you have friends, who are women?

    the cheek of you

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,388 ✭✭✭Kernel

Not all women are insane, but they are prone to jealousy. If it was the other way around would you have a problem with it? Maybe she's on the rag?

You need to sit down and have a serious chat with her OP, before it gets any worse. This more of a PI.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 43,045 ✭✭✭✭Nevyn

really what a crap thread title and you want to tar everyone who happens to be female with that title cos you and the gf are having a bit of a tiff.
It's hot out and people are cranky, go talk to your gf in stead of making stupid generalisations about people.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 976 ✭✭✭Gandhi

Tell your girlfriend that all these work chicks are after getting fierce fat. If I know anything about women (and admittedly I do not) if she thinks they are all substantially less attractive than she is, she won't care.

THis happens the other way round all the time. In fact, I'd hazard a guess that males are generally more possesive and jealous than females. So the answer is no, women are not insane!
While it annoys the hell out of you that she's getting jealous you should realise that she's probably cut up inside, jealousy is pretty horrible feeling. Have a chat with her and find out where it's coming from. Maybe she has she been cheated on in the past etc. Reassure her that she has nothing to worry about and if you sort it out your relationship will jsut get even better.

It got your attention, didn't it? I was wondering what other women thought so don't go about calling people stupid, if the level of your intelligence is name calling you should ignore the thread

If you have gotten over pally with one particular girl and talk to her outside of work then I’d have a problem with it too.

If its just a work friendship and stays in work, she shouldnt worry about it.

    And....they're off!! :D

Wondered how long this thread would take to descend into craziness.

Just ride a couple of them and give the jealous cow something to really get jealous over.

    OP,

Erm, yup - some of them are....some are prone to desperate jealousy....trust is a fundamental part of any relationship, your gf needs to learn to trust you or she will drive you bonkers....:)

If she's anything like me, she'll turn that right around and ask, "WTF have you been looking at her to begin with?! You must be doing an awful lot of staring to notice that she's gaining weight!"

    :D

OP, women are not insane, it's just that men are far too beneath us in wisdom and intellect to understand our reasonings for most everything that we do/think/feel. ;)

She's jealous. It's natural. If you want to go to the pub with the girlies, then invite your babe along with you. Common sense, really.

OP, dump her and score one of the hot chicks from work who isn't jealous and possessive. Try and get one who can cook too, word from the wise. :)

Not my fault you can't tell the difference between calling generalisations stupid and a person stupid.

So you want womens advice so you title the thread in a way to provoke a negative reaction from them and re enforce your idea that it is your gf and women is where the problem lies and not in your relationship which you should take at least 50% of the responsibiltiy for.

There you go then, all women are cruel thick head wrecking unreasonbile bitches and none of it is your fault ever you never asked to be born that was a womans fault too.

I'd be fascinated to hear the girlfriend's side of this.

Are you going straight from work and coming home at 1am? Is your mobile turned off during this time? Do you head out with them at the weekends? Is your girlfriend told 'No, you can't come with me, its a work thing?'

Now you're just talking crap, thought I asked you to ignore the thread if it upset you so much. Why am I even replying to you, you obvioulsy have some kind of problem and I honestly couldn't care less about it.

As to Kiera's answer, why is it wrong to be pally with a girl, is it jealousy? Lack of trust or simply time to move on.

not sure i'd agree with that at all. guys in general do tend to be more possessive/jealous/overprotective with their girls.

as for the initial post, id say that yes, i can see where your girlfriend is coming from, and she doesnt know if she is justified in thinking this way or not. if she's feeling insecure, you need to *not* get into an argument, and instead explain things, have a chat, invite her along, or maybe pay some more attention to her. if this is the third time in a week youve gone out with the girls from work, how often have you been seeing your girlfriend? surely you can see the girls from work every day in work?

and no, im not taking her side, im just showing you what her side might look like.

it could be jealousy, or lack of trust, but it could also be insecurity.

Completely off topic, but does anyone know if anal_detective's posts are still up? I'm at work and want to read those threads but can't if the pictures are still there. *sobs*

Oh, and to the OP re: "is it just jealousy or time to move on?"...really, if you're asking a bunch of internet strangers whether or not to end your relationship, then I really don't understand why SHE hasn't already left YOU. ;)

hmm,Ghandi may very well be on to something there
Friend of mine at college few years ago was getting similar grief from his mot. We used to go on the piss regularly after college with the same 2 girls but for whatever reason 1 of the girls names came up more often than the other in conversations with said mot. The one who's name rarely came up was shall we say, a bit rotund.Anyway he was telling us about his gf giving him sh*t about this doll (who she'd never met) and the fat bird goes "well why isnt she pissed off that u go out with me?" so i blurts out "because she's seen you!" DOH!

an unhelpful story i know:p but just introduce her to the boilers in your office and keep the lookers well away.too easy?

Are you serious? Are you suggesting just becuase someone is female she should be a feminist, or is it that you don't respect women who aren't feminists enough to count their opinion?

There's a huge difference between being female and being a feminist.
