I'm tempted by a great value Laptop on Dell's outlet store, I'm just a little wary about buying from there, is everything they sell identical to new?

Also one thing that worries me, is the laptop guaranteed to have a battery? It's the one thing not listed in the product spec which worries me, I can select 'a second battery' under accessories when purchasing but there's no mention of the first battery anywhere!

I've bought a few laptops from Dell Outlet.

Laptops are supplied with battery, power, reinstall disks. They have been just like new, one or two didn't have the piece of plastic wrapping on the screen and keyboard, that's about it.
Monitors are an added extra on the Desktops.

Two have not been exactly what I ordered. They reserve the right to do some substitution, so, for example, the memory might be 2x512MB sodimm rather than 1x1GB in the original description. One did not have the three year warranty that I ordered, but an email sorted out that sharpish once I found the right address.
(The email address that they provide on the invoices and the site is an autoresponder, doesn't appear to have any human checking it )

Most stuff on the site isn't a bargain. Sometimes it can be more expensive than the retail site, since they don't show vat and delivery till the end.

You didn't get a choice of buying Office with the laptop, last time I checked, so if you need it, and you're not a student, you'd want to go the dell.ie route.

And to get the discounts, when available, be careful to look for the little 'save €x' checkbox. It isn't set by default.
