    Hi,

I'm assuming you're based in Leinster, if not apologies!

The Leinster Cricket Umpires & Scorers Association have their website athttp://homepage.eircom.net/~lcua/. The main Training Officer is Alan Tuffery, his email is on the contacts page and he will be more than happy to give you all the information you need.

The training courses start, AFAIK, after Christmas and run for 6 to 8 weeks. Most of the current umpires attend as a refresher, so it's a great way to get involved & meet the others. I'm planning on doing the training this winter, so hopefully I'll see you there.

    hey jim,

thanks a million for that info.. i was trawling through google but couldnt find anything about umpiring courses. Hopefully my age (18) wont be an inhibiting factor!

    regards,
    simon

The younger the better mate, you've less to unlearn! :D

Drop Alan a line, he'll be more than happy to answer any question you might have. Also, keep an eye on the schedules and if there's a game near you, pop along and see how it's done. The umps will be delighted to chat to you afterwards.

    Jim

weirdly enough I actually have umpired a 20 overs game before - my school have this past vs present match every year and they were an umpire short... I absolutely loved it. Im am obsessed with cricket! Dropped alan an email so we'll see what the story is.

    cheers,
    simon

    Hi Simon

I was chatting to Alan over the weekend and told him of your interest - hopefully he'll have replied to you by now, but if not it's on the way.

As far as I can remember he said the training courses start in January, around the 11th.
