ok this is starting to turn very sour.

i rent in a house with my gf and 8 other people, yes thats alot but it is a 6 bed house. anyways......

we have to move out on the 31st of this month as the landlord is selling the house. the house belongs to someone my dad knows and was given to us before it even went on the market as a gesture and on his good name...

well one of the people who i have know for about 2 and a half years recently start going out with this girl, id say about 5 or 6 months.(everyone except me is chinese by the way, even the gf). she eventually moved in and all was good until recently. i know that almost everyone in the house does not like her, but as they have been friends with the guy for so long no one said anything as it is just something you put up with.

ok now to the trouble thing. well as i said we are moving out at the end of the month. this is where it went sour as no one wanted to pay the last months rent as the landlord had the deposit. they said that the deposit should cover it. i tried to explain(as myself and the gf are kind of second landlords as we rented the house months prior to everyone else moving in) then a bill came. now everyone paid or said they would in the morning except for this girl and her bf(the bf is our friend). so i went in and asked her to pay and she started to go on about how the deposit should cover this and refused to pay. long story short, she then insulted me and my gf. and to add to it, we found out yesterday that she has kicked my dog on numorous occasios in the head.

should i stick it out with this bitch for the last 2 weeks or should i call the cops pr something. i really dont know what to do.

Call everyone together in the house for a chat into the room and lock the door, tell them no one is going anywhere until its sorted out.

That's when you start hot-boxing them.

It's not your responsibility to pay the rent, pay your share, and let the landlord know what's happening, tell the others they have to pay the bill as the months deposit only pays the rent, not the bills...

I think there is an historical precedent for this? 1922 or so in a Bavarian beer hall? They locked and guarded the door, everyone finally came to an agreement, but when they got outside the locked doors, they all changed their minds?

Ive read your post twice but Im not sure what the problem is. Sorry if Im mising something obvious, but why dont you just get it sorted with the landlord that you dont pay the remaining rent to the value of your deposit, and you all finish off the household bills. Surely with 8 of you it would work out quite affordable? And the guy youre friends with would probably get around his gf anyay couldnt he?? How much are the bills?

I wouldnt go calling the cops, especially if you're friends with the dude whose gf is causing hassle. As for kicking your dog in the head, it doesnt seem like something you could prove too easily, unless you have witnesses and a veterinary certificate, if the dog is ok just forget about it.

well the whole point of a deposit is for damages and so forth, done to the house while you where occupying the residence. if you took any deductions of it before you left then the landlord could be left with her finger in her bum if the costs of damages was higher than the remainder of the deposit.

with 10 people here the bills are significantly higher. sometimes our gas bill can be about 6 or 7 hundred euro. then about 4 or 5 hundred for elec, then you have internet and tele and maybe 1 or 2 more. it adds up.

my friend paid us this morning. but i am not looking forward to the rest of the bills and then the final ones. i think from now on i will just go directly to my friend instead

It's not your responsibility to pay the rent, pay your share, and let the landlord know what's happening.

    That's not true.

The op & his gf rented the house of the landlord, then they sublet it to another 6 people.

The are responsible for 100% of the rent to be paid to the landlord.
If they don't want to be out of pocket, they have to make sure to get the money owed from THEIR tenants.

Yep, and whoever's name is on the bill's are responsible for those.

Unfortunately unless you have a written contract signed by each tennant stating costs etc, you are responsible for the lot. Hard to prove anything otherwise.

If they are decent people they will pay their share but if not...

It sucks but its true. Unless you have a contract you do not have to be paid a penny as all debts are technically in your name.
Get what you can from them all and you will have to somhow cover the rest yourself.

refusing to pay the rent. evict the **** or go to small claims court. it shouldnt matter if its your friends gf or not. and for kicking a dog in the head, i'd do the same to her
