Got a job out in Citywest, with SAP, and i was wondering does anyone have any tips for how to get there. I can't drive there, yet, cause I do not have a full licience, so it has to be public transport. Looking for the quickest way to get there.

    Any help?

If ye can get to Westmoreland street by 8.10 then you could try this.

do you know if the times it says are reliable?

You do realise it is a mad trip that will take up about 2 hours either way?

DART to city centre and 50 or 65B to Citywest.

    car pool?

there's bound to be other Greystonians who work in Citywest, and they almost certainly drive (as going there by public transport is insane)

try posting on the Charlesland\Greystones board.

I agree with the carpool idea but if you can't find anyone.

I would be tempted to try Dart to Connolly Luas to the Square and 65B to Citywest journey time

    Dart 53 minutes
    Luas 45 minutes
    Bus 30 minutes (including wait

2 hours 15 plus door to door

It seems ridiculous that a journey with a total length of less than 30 miles could take 2 hours 15 minutes plus but it would in all reality.

    Considered renting in Saggart?

I'm in favour of people using public transport where available and it being made available where it's not but yours is a journey that really does require a car so you'll have to get that test soon.

You avoid the worst parts of the M50 and would spend less than an hour each way driving - and possibly considerably less depending on the flexibility of your working times. Even driving across country (avoiding the motorway until you get your test) would be much quicker than the PT options.

DART to city centre and 50 or 65B to Citywest.

    69 bus also serves Citywest.

Another alternative is DART to Sydney Parade and take the Mortons service from there to Citywest. It departs at 0745, getting to citywest for 0840 and returns at 1720 ex-Citywest and is due at Sydney Parade at 1825.

Otherwise, it's the DART and 65B, with the 0720 and 0735 65B being the only realistic options.

I work in SAP too. Citywest is such a hole to get to.

You could move to Rathcoole or even a place just behind SAP called Kingswood.

I sometimes head out to citywest from greystones/kilcoole area, usually leave (driving) at about 9.15 and am at a desk roughly around 40 mins later. I obviously do use the M50 for that, but there are ways around that, enniskerry to rathfarnham to tallaght to citywest (back entrance into citywest on the tallaght -> blessington road), probably take an hour maybe.

Are you allowed to drive on the motorway as a provisional license holder if you have a full license holder in the car with you? You could possibly find someone to share your car with.

Driving is the only way, nightmare otherwise, often have go to the citycentre aswell, and it is 90 mins door to door, poxy commute. Can only imagine what over 2 hours would be like, and that doesn't include delays, traffic, 'leaves on the track' etc. Will also feel a lot longer during the dark cold winter.

Only if they're in the driving seat doing the driving.

The alternative to the M50 is the Green Route. Leopardstown-Ballinteer-Firhouse-Tallaght.
