Hey. My Dad got a called from NTL a few days ago letting us know that NTL broadband is now available in my area. Im currently on Esat 3mb/384k and I'm fairly happy on this as it is. The 6mb line is tempting though and was wondering if you guys might help me make up my mind. Thanks :)

Generally I would say yes. When I had the 3mb edition, It was rock solid. Now it can vary from 3mb to 10mb. Currently it is testing at 8mb. I have to say though that each and every time I downloaded from rapidshare.de I could run 4 simultaneous downloads at approx 260Kb/s each.

I don't know what price the esat offering is but the NTL is excellent value. Plus you could get rid of your home phone line and go with VOIP over NTL by transferring your number to Blueface for example. While there have been an odd outage, I find that the home phone is pretty much secondary and the net effect is no more than being unable to get some one while they are on another call. the voip has vastly improved forme since i got a new wireless router with QOS set for sip.
