Can some of you eircom BB users help me out here please.
Ping this 193.120.200.50. It is a gaming server within esat which I usually ping a steady 25 to. 2nit Im getting up to 1500 ping. Its not just this server tho, everyone I try is the same, huge pl and ping.

BUT, the overall speed of my conn is fine. I tried the eircom speedtest and got my usual 250k/s or there abouts.

been on the phone to eircom the past half hour, still on it here. They have no idea whats wrong.

If i run a ping test -t, it can be fine for about 15 hops, then it will jump to 450...weird

    Router problems?

The router shouldn't block or delay ping should it.

By router problems, I mean some router along the path to the server. Trace route would provide info.

They were doing maintence in Bray and various other areas between 01:00 and 05:00. That wasnt the problem though. It turns out, for no good reason, my router was throwing a fit. I had changed no settings, nothing, it was getting a really unstable 1-250 ping to it. I spent about an hour on the phone to an eircom technician where were both baffled.

In the end I changed the channel the router was using from the default of 7 to 2. It improved it drastically to between 1-10. Previously however, I pinged a constant 1-3 to my router wirelessly. I've no idea why it changed.

It wasnt a virus issue or anything like that because I restored my pc to a few days previous with no improvement.

That's why a traceroute is recommended. It can show where the delay is benig introduced.

If you had to change the wireless channel, then the problem was obviously cause by interference on the wireless channel. A neighbour might have plugged in a baby monitor or a new wireless phone or some other similar equipment.

Down in Tallaght for a few days, and it was down here for about an hour from 12:30 -1:30.

I thought that it was the netopia box failing over in the heat, but a friend in Donegal had told me that his connection was down for most of the day, gave him a call and he got online with dialup, and it seems that alot of the country was down last night (DSL wise).

Did anyone hear that the official Eircon line was on what happened? Seems like something failed, but they will say tests/upgrades ;P

My eircom bb went down last night and never came back, still down now on the rochestown exchange.
I have DSL sync but no traffic.
Router says OAM loopback not recieved.
    Anyone else getting this?
