Sure! Ya just gotta find them. Go swimming in the sea, and bring some raw fish, I find that helps :)

why would you wanna swim with the little rapists?

I think you can swim with Fungi. He's the long established anti-social dolphin that hangs around Dingle.

To be honest I wouldn't swim with him, he's a big massive, menacing looking yoke and by nature dolphins are social animals...what the hell is he doing on his tod?

Something you can do in Florida, USA, in the Keys.

The irishdolphin site Magoo pointed you to gives you loads of info on known dolphins on the West Coast of Ireland who will tolerate humans in their space. It also has a lot of good advice for the safety of you and the dolphins. If you're going to do it, remember you're on their "patch" so at a massive disadvantage if you mess up in some way.

    rofl.
Fungi is simply the name given to any Dolphin seen anywhere in the vicinity of Kerry.
There are many Fungis. Its just that very occasionally, a dolphin will swim into Dingle bay and the crowds go wild. Usually around summer time. He/they was out last week in Dingle, but you can't really go swimming with him/them. Its the atlantic like. Its a big ocean, and its hard to keep up with a dolphin...

Swimming with dolphins (unless theyre in captivity which is pretty cruel) is a sort of American myth.

esp...seeing as they can be violent buggers.

they rape each other in the blowhole for dominance for god's sake...how can you admire an animal that rapes others in the BLOWHOLE!

I swam with a Dolphin north of Lahinch, might have been Dusty. Very friendly, when it saw I was reluctant to rub it it swam repeatedly between my arm and my body until I got the message:P

You have a strange way of looking at things.Dont confuse the animal kingdom with humanity.

i'm not...dolphins actually rape each other's blowholes as a form of showing dominance.

Yep.. it's all true... Dolphins are total jerks.

Go frolic with some monkeys instead.

What do Dolphins do with their sh*t then?

I don't trust any creature that is secretive about it's sh*t.

Bring someone with you who is pregnant for a real up close experience, Dolphins are attracted by the 2 heartbeats and get all protective and up close and personal with you

So what if they do? Its nature, dont think humans run the risk of being buggered by dolphins..Its not like rape in the human world but the way you word it you would swear you think its the equivelent.;)

If it's unwanted sexual penetration, then it's rape no matter what species you are.

It looks like rape to us as humans but is not nessecarily the case in the animal kingdom.

"Some animals appear to exhibit behaviors which resemble rape in humans, in particular combining sexual intercourse with violent assault, such as are observed in ducks, geese, and certain species of dolphins. It is difficult to determine to what extent the idea of rape can be extended to intercourse in animal species, as the defining attribute of rape in humans is the lack of informed consent, which is difficult to determine in animals".

End of the day Dolphins are wild animals not at all like Flipper. While I've heard of a lot of people swimming with the Dolphin near Lahinch it's not always been good.

That sounds like an excuse a zoophile would use.

Or an expert opinion from a zoologist. Not some random on boards.ie especially in after hours;) where you are probably likely to find zoophiles.I will agree to disagree.

well seeing as they are wiping out the entire family line of the previous alpha male...it could be argued as a form of genocide?

    :D

    back to the real world.

All I am is passing on what I was told by Zoologist...dont get snappy with me. But I can ask him would he consider lions murderers, so i'll get back to you on that one.

I was actually going to say genocide but i thought it was a bit far fetched.

    Snappy,what are you on about?

Get back to me if you want, its up to yourself.I find it quiet honourable that you are going to take time out especially for me,thanks.

West coast is a grand place to do it. Between mayo and donegal you will find them pretty easily if ur out and about. Dived with them before and swam with them afterwards in Mullaghmore. They hung around for ages then they were just gone. Really cool thing to do thou! :)

Think thats at Fanore? Just past Ballyvaughan in north Clare. We've seen a friendly dolphin come very close to shore there on a few ocassions but not often.
