29 left, 27 get paid(PPP)....Final table of course is where the money is.

    Blinds 3k-6k....everyone folding as ususal.

I pick up 22 in MP(22k) left. Only one big stack behind me.

I shove allin hoping to nick the blinds. I get called and lose and bust just off the money. Not that a big deal....I want the win not 27th. I figured the 9k would make a big difference(almost 50% to my stack).

Opinions on the move....should I muck and hope for a better hand? Is 22 bad to make this move with?? Is there a range that is better/worse to make the move with?

If, as you said, you've no interest in crawling into 27th place, then its a no-brainer, shove them in and hope.

The 22 is not very important the MP is
in mp i muck 22 unless SB and BB have healthy stacks
I think as you get to a later postion making a move with any 2 cards through a smaller field is probably a better move

the play loosens up dramatically when the 27 is hit on tribeca tourneys and it can be very easy to turn a small stack into a larger one capable of competing to get to final table...

I woulda waited for a better spot

You've <4BBs, correct? 22 performs better than connectors against the range that will call you; You're about a 60/40 dog with 22, and 2/1 with connectors. If your push is called then you have 41% BE, so the folding equity makes it an ok move. In saying that I hate pushing with small pairs, but with 4BBs it doesn't make much difference.

Push any 2, definitely push 22. When I used to play these games people made absolutely ridiculous folds on the bubble, probably 30% of people are folding TT/AQ with 4BB here in the BB, and I can't imagine that's changed.
