mods, feel free to move this to a more appropriate place, wherever it should live.

ok so i bought a dirt cheap ipod and the battery is, as i suspected, fairly shagged.

i was planning to just return it to apple and pay the $60 or whatever it is they charge and let them hand me a new ipod, but now it seems more amusing to pry it open and change the battery myself, but of course i dont dont want to turn my half-battery-life'd-ipod into a no-use-,-not-even-pretty-,-paperweight.

    anyone got any experience?

3rd gen btw.the one with the four buttons.

You can puck up batteries cheap enough on ebay and, if you're any use with a screwdriver, you should have no problems. You should probably look at the ipodlounge.com website and do a search over there. Good luck!

I replaced my own 3G battery, handy enough job.
Bought the battery on ebay for €15. You get an opening tool with it.

ipoddoctor.co.uk have some good tutorials on how to do it.
