I got a pc from work that they were gona scrap.

I have to format it so I can install my own software and make sure its all legit etc.

Any ways is there a way of keeping the current drivers as I dont want to have to spend ages looking for the drivers

Which drivers? What make and model?

If its just a few then use device manager to find out the driver details and copy them, then when the new OS discovers them point the wizzard at the pocation you saved them to .

Well unless the setup files for the drivers are still on the computer theres no point in copying anything as I don't think its as easy as copying the files and just dropping them back into the location. No chance they have an old driver CD that came with it?

IT lad said I can have the box and thats all i.e no cds or software etc. I was just wondering are the drivers of the pc stored some where so I can copy them onto a cd and reinstall them after I formatt the drive.

Or is there a way for formatting the drive with out getting rid of the drivers

Most of drivers can be obtained online, have you got the make and model of the computer as MunsterCycling asked (like with Dells you can type in the model number and it will give you all the drivers required). I don't think theres a way to format and leave the drivers on there.

its an old p4 philips iqon.

Its in the car now so cant find the model number now. I'll post later.

Hadnt intended to put it on the net but I suppose it can be hooked up at some stage.

If it was bought from dell originally most dell drivers extract to a folder called Dell on the c drive. You can then use them. be careful to find out which is which or you could be installing older ones over new ones. put the numbers in the search on the dell website to find out which ones they are and whether there are new drivers or not

Edit: this is no good 2 you. you were posting at the same time as me

View, backup, save and print drivers installed in your system with Double Driver.

MyBackup 3.0 has always done this really well for me. Get it on trial.
