SE on Friday, final table has just formed. I'm 2nd chip lead, 4 large stacks, rest relatively shorties.

    UTG+2 holding KK
    Blinds just gone to 400/800
    I raise to 2400
Guy who has just one the last hand to now just cover me smooth calls
    2 players - pot = 6000
    Flop J75 rainbow
    I make it 3500
    Caller makes it 10k
I push, am called and get dogged by AJ who hits a J on the turn.

    ul etc, two questions:

Instead of leading the flop, would a push be better? Is my leadout too small here - I was intending to push any reraise, didn't think he was smooth calling JJ or a small PP preflop.
Or check/smooth calling for value and a look at the turn to make sure I'm still ahead?

    Anyone play this different?

You pld the hand fine, I'd want a caller here everytime with KK v AJ, 2 cards to come you're a huge fav, winning that hand would have meant dominating chips.

Good play he just sucked out.

Standard, tbh, you played it fine. Against an aggressive player (and stack sizes permitting), I might just check the flop hoping villain puts more money in, but that's all really. From the subforum I see that you were berated by the other players for misplaying your hand; to use the word of the day, what a shower of "bell ends". :)
