ok I apologise in advance as this may not be the right place for this idea to be posted, but it's not exactly a forum request, more a fishing for support.
If it needs moving then the mod should work away.

It would be a sub-forum of sorts.
This sub-forum at the top of this nintendo forum would be called Game on - DS and then one shortly called Game on - Wii. It's more applicable for the DS in any case as we can probably communicate on the wii online when it arrives.

Basically the thread will be called by the name of the game. valid presently would be
    MKDS
    ACWW
    THPS
TETRIS, and whatever other online enabled games are there at the moment.
In there you would post to the thread for the relevant game when you are online and wanting a game.
At the monent the threads are not stickied and slide off the page and a sticky isn't really the answer in a discussion forum when the whole first page is stickies.

    SO what ya think?

IRC would be a better option...

I think that a sub forum for the ds would be welcome, however, Seperating that into different games would be a step too for and I doubt there would be enough people to populate the forum.

a la something like this you were thinking of http://forums.dsmeet.com/
Although when you think about it there are not that many threads started about the wifi games but more about the ds in general so I suppose they could go in there.....

Edit/An Irc channel would be good but only if people use it!

Just a handy spot to click on and see if anyone has announced that they are playing, not a sub-forum really just a notification that you were playing at the moment. Take the MKDS thread and the ACWW thread right now, move them and add any as appropriate typa thing.

How many casual ds gamers would use IRC though.

Hmm.... this gives me an idea.

I think sub-forums is taking it too far and we already have enough stickies in the forum. I'll probably have to combine the friend code threads when more games come out using it.

An irc channel would be the best option in my opinion. We could put a link up in the charter or somewhere else.

I reckon the best solution for friends codes is for people to just stick them in their signature, that way the people who float around this Nintendo forum will see each others codes quite easily, the problem with threads for friend codes is a new one gets created for every game and everyone posts their code and it all gets a bit messy...

Aren't Friend Codes, and their formats different from game to game though? So it would make sense to have different threads. Or at least do what the programming resources FAQs do in that forum, have one sticky thread act as an index of the Friend Code threads, rather than cluttering the stickies section with different games.

Yeah I suppose Aidan, it's just with the amount of games coming out and a different Friend code for each, the amount of threads is going to become huge over time. The one thread idea is good but the problem is you can't edit old posts, so you could tap in your different friend codes for all your games now, buy a new game in a months time but not be able to edit your post in the thread to include the new code due to Boards not allowing you to edit a post over a certain age...

Ahh, what am I going on about these damn friends codes for?!, I don't have and never will be able to get broadband and therefore can't play my games with Nintendo WFC... :(

Oh how I wish someone would pay a visit to my town of Hamstey in Animal Crossing and unlock Nookingtons for me!...

I'd support scrapping the existing threads if favour of a unified thread similar to that in Xbox (not the one post with reams of info but each person posting their codes and games), as has been pointed out the issue of editing is a problem but people can just quote their old post and add "just got xyz; code is XXXX XXXX XXXX" as they go along.

As you can see I'm up for the sig thing but as online games increase in numbers that will become an issue; especially when the Wii comes out and you have AC:WW - CODE; AC (Wii) - CODE, Metroid Prime Hunters - CODE, Metroid 3 - CODE, MK: DD - CODE, and so on... although I pray to God they scrap the unique code/game system for the wii :D
