I'm having the lads over for a texas hold em poker night... i think we're all setting our limits between 40 - 100...

The thing is i've never played a real life cash game...

    any advice?

    cheers in advance

    is it cash or tournement
ie 2000+ chips each and the winner takes a %
or is it cash where you are betting, say a fiver raising a tenner so on
    different animals

just 6 fellas around a table, buy chips for 20€ i think

    play tight I suppose,
dont go into any hands that you arent willing to bet into.
J9off suit should be your lowest unpaired hand to go into early on.
Image will mean nothing ie. no-one will notice that you arent playing every hand.
Bet smart, if you have a really good hand QQ+ bet according to how many people have bought in at least match it.
Dont be afraid to throw away a hand....

www.homepokertourney.com should give you some concrete advice about structure/ ideas etc

and have a look at this thread for some better advice ;)
