GAA won’t hike ticket prices

The GAA has no plans to increase its ticket prices for Croke Park after the IRFU announced that they will be charging top prices for next year’s rugby internationals at the Jones’ Road venue.

When Ireland play France and England next February at Croke Park, the IRFU will charge EUR850 plus VAT per person in a corporate box, resulting in a cost of more than EUR1,000 per person. And with almost 2,000 seats at this level, the IRFU can expect to earn almost EUR2 million from corporate boxes alone.

That sum will also comfortably cover the rental cost to the GAA which is believed to be EUR1.5 million per game. That still leaves the IRFU with another 75,000 tickets to sell, including almost 9,000 in the exclusive Premium level selling at EUR110.

Ordinary stand tickets will cost EUR80. By comparison, stand tickets for Sunday’s sell-out Leinster football final cost just EUR30.

The FAI has confirmed corporate box tickets will be under EUR400 per person for next year’s European championship qualifier games at Croke Park. Tickets will be sold as a bundle, thus meaning patrons must buy them for both the Germany and Cyprus matches. The international against Wales will be bundled with the game against Slovenia.

Premium level tickets for soccer internationals are expected to cost EUR85, with stand tickets priced at EUR50 and EUR70.

Croke Park stadium manager Peter McKenna has moved to reassure GAA fans that there won’t be a hike in ticket prices for football and hurling fixtures at Croke Park.
