Little Egret

I was walking the hounds down by the Grand Canal yesterday when the wee Jack Russell dived into the reeds after a ball. Lo and behold, a Little Egret rose up out of the reed bed and flew off in the direction of Inchicore. (I was on the stretch at Davitt Road).

I know that these birds are becoming more common but I did not expect to see one in the (nearly!!) middle of the city.

Has anyone else encountered them yet?
