Semi Solid flooring onto plywood floor upstairs

I am considering laying down some 3mm semi solid(for the first time) in an upstairs room. The floor is basically shuttering ply screwed down to joists.

I have the option of either secret nailing them or gluing them together. Is there a good reason for choosing either method. I am tending towards secret nailing them, as it would counteract any resulting "bumps" if the boards started moving against each other.
Also, when leaving the expansion gap, is there any need to leave a gap at the butt end of the boards (i.e do boards only expand to the side)

    Thanks,
