    Hello,
I am travelling to Texas at the start of September...Going to be in San Marcos, San Antonio, Galveston and Austin...

Just wondering are there things that you can recommend to check out? I know that there is a HUGE shopping mall in San Marcos and I wanted to check out an NBA game in San Antonio but I believe that it's the off-season...

I'd say the first thing you think when it comes to Texas is oil, stretch limos...... and inch thick t-bone steaks! Since the first two are a little out of my reach, I'd be willing to try out some of the food they got there - and this applies to whatever city you go to....

Apparently you can get jalapeno peppers on your burgers wherever you go - and while in Texas, this sounds like a definite thing to try!

Also, you have to try Tex-mex, authentic Texan food, but which evolved from it's close proximity to Mexico - apparently, Texas can be credited for being the home of nachos, crispy tacos, crispy chalupas, chili con queso, chili con carne, chili gravy, and fajitas - bring it ON :D

Unrelated to food - I'd love to see the Alamo in San Antonio, and go to a few rodeo shows. Good luck!

(Oh, and watch out for El Chupacabra...)

been to dallas 3 times myself, have to agree with the previous post, the food over there is so good, there is steak houses all over the place, if you can go to a place called salt grass its well worth the visit, the biggest and best steak you'll ever have!
In Austin there is a lot of colleges so there is a lot of student bars and nightclubs. If you make it to dallas, make sure and go and see where JFK was shot, the grassy knoll and famous bookstore window, there is a museum there which is interesting.
