techno/house/hhouse production in the south

    just wondering if there are any producers/guy&gals that do production in the south, i.e. cork?

    just curious about getting some tips,ideas etc about starting up in this area.
    jsut any ideas of equipment/software etc

    Well Im not from Cork though I as down there giging on thursday if that counts! :D
    It all really depends on what you want to do musicaly but seeing as this is a dance music forum Im gonna assume you want to do club music.

    That being the case all you really need for starters is a pc (preferably not with to much other **** on it like file sharing programs ect. and a good virus checker is important if your using the net on the same pc regularly).

    A half decent soundcard (not an audigy/soundblaster type thingy if you can avoid it).
    The are are plenty of cheap really good soundcards out there now with nice quality ad/da converters.
    O and make sure the soundcard has midi capabilities for using your midi keyboard with to trigger sounds within your software (though a keyboard isnt essential).

    Then basically all you need is Cubase and a few vstis (virtual instruments that work within Cubase) and hey presto, your making dance music :)
    You could also get Reason which alot of people swear by, just not my prefered route.

    get onto the peoples republic of cork music section on their forum. every day there are guys coming online with their latest tracks for critique and stuff. start up a thread there are you'll get about 10 replies within 4 hours.
