Just wondering if there are any sites that allow you to play real poker with no downloads required through a browser maybe.
or if any one knows of any client out there which is configurable ie you can choose which ports to communicate on.
or if any one know any tricks on tunnelling poker client traffic through port 80 for example or something like that.
The techies out there will know what im talking about and the none techies can just ignore.

Gholi I think Pokerroom might do the job. I know many students use it as it gets around university firewalls (i think it's the one anyway - java based)

Ladbrokes has this option. They use a Macromedia solution (not Java). See my sig. for link.

You can change the ports that Pokerstars use as well. it worked for me in getting around the firewall in work. Heres a reply I got from PS support with the details

    Hello,

PokerStars' software uses one of two ports by default. These ports are 443 and 26002. In addition, the updater software uses port 80.

Sometimes either an ISP or a personal firewall will be blocking one of these ports. You may be able to work around this blockage by changing the port that PokerStars' software uses from one to the other.

To do this, you will need to change a line in the text file USER.INI.
You will find this file in the PokerStars folder which is normally found in the Program Files folder on your primary hard drive (usually the C: drive).

Make sure you have closed the PokerStars program. Load USER.INI into Notepad or your favorite text editor (don't use a word processor). If there is not a [Connect] section, add one, followed by the userport line with the port number.

Here is how the [Connect] section should look after your
    modifications:

    [Connect]
    userport=443

You may interchange 443 and 26002 above, trying either one.

    Regards,

    Joanne
    PokerStars Support Team

Note, if the [Connect] section isn't in the .ini file then just add it. good Luck

EuroBet Poker (www.eurobetpoker.com) have both a download and a non-download version as well.

You will need Java installed for the non-download version.
