My shoelaces keep opening when i walk.
    Double knots do not work...
I tried a different pair of runners, the same thing happens..

Does anyone know of a reason for this? is it the shape of my foot? do i need surgery?
any help would be extremely welcome

Rub some candle wax onto the laces then tie them up, the wax should stop the laces slipping out of the knot. Either that or get someone to tie them properly for you!

Best of luck with what i'm sure is a difficult issue to deal with...;)

I learned how to tie mine on Bosco and havent had a problem since :D

    Try this

If this site doesn’t help I suggest sawing your feet off with a rusty saw.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,145 ✭✭✭DonkeyStyle \o/

Just glue the laces shut and take your shoes off/on by slipping in/out of them.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,033 ✭✭✭Chakar

I would recommend that you learn how to tie your laces.Duh.

i am actually quite a good shoelace tie-er..
some people have commented on how good my knots for them are!
so i think its a problem with the shape of my feet...its quite distressing really, sometimes both open simultaneously

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,033 ✭✭✭Chakar

What about your feet? You have to make an appointment with an podiatrist if it is really a cause for concern.

P.S. Sorry about my comment earlier, thought you were being silly.

    Brilliant.

But seriously folks - my laces used to come undone all the time too. It was one particular pair of runners I had - very slippy, undoable laces. So I suggest that you invest in new grip-solid (TM) laces.

Maybe that guy at Ian's Shoelace Site could hep you out.

Ian's Shoelace Site? Now that's a worthwhile site.

What are you talking about? You want to sue someone for you not being able to tie your own shoelaces. Are you also going to sue your mother for not teaching you how to tie them and while you’re at it why don’t you sue yourself for not having the cop on the buy new laces!
    Adonis wrote:

    Cut them

Its in my link on one of my posts. It’s the blue “link” word.

well Kiera i hope ur life is neve affected by something so distressing as this is.

how would you feel if you were walking down a street with a girl trying to impress her and both of your shoelaces open simultaneously?? and you trip????
    scarring!

also another point..u think if i flicked my foot enough times they would tie themselves back together?
    surely there is a chance

the shape of your feet? what does the shape of your feet have to do with the tightness of a knot? oddly shaped feet might make the shoes fall off but they'd have no effect on a properly tied knot. watch some s&m porn for tips on really good knots

also, you know quite odd people if they compliment your shoe tying abilities

kiera's a girl so i doubt she walks down the street trying to impress girls. unless......;)

at this point i think you are one of five things:
    1. stoned
    2. drunk
    3. a troll
    4. retarded
    5. someone who thought he learned to tie knots but didn't really
    6. someone born without feet.

if number 5 is the case, consult your mammy

if number 6 is the case, then your shoes are falling off because you have no feet. purchase some sellotape

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,997 ✭✭✭jaggeh

the shape of your foot would affect how your foot deforms the shoe and changes the stress on the knot as you walk. beleive it or not this is a very common situation. My right foot always comes open but my left always stays tied. doesnt matter what shoes you wear you will have the same problem.

kiera and vimes, your posts are niave and idiotic. please get informed before making childish attacks on someone with a real problem.

As far as i know you can get special laces from most shoe stores that deal with perscription shoes. other than that all i could advise is velcro or loafers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,292 ✭✭✭gonker

Ok a serious reply. Are your laces round by round I mean long circular tubes? If so change to flat laces. My kids laces opened all the time and I figured out that it was the round laces that opened not the flat ones.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,417 ✭✭✭Miguel_Sanchez

Are you greasing your laces every morning with motor oil? Hhhhmmmmm?

    Gave me a laugh anyway.

btw: you'de look like some fcekin eegit with this knot

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,107 ✭✭✭adonis

my shoelaces are flat ones, not the tubular types...
and my right one is more prone to become untied!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,997 ✭✭✭jaggeh

is your right foot your prominant one?
you can also look into changing your gait as that can affect it too.

tube or flat laces dont matter.

i know how to tie knots, i know how to tie my shoe laces. mine still come undone a lot.

i know it seems funny to a lot of you but it is a real problem so try not be so glib about it.

You should ask for a shoelace forum and nomante yourself for mod!

Until that happens I’m going to rip the píss out of this stupid “problem”

You don’t know how lucky you are to have such stupid issues.

Replace the laces with electrical cables. They will soon form thelselves into an undetanglable mesh, assuring your comort and safety.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,997 ✭✭✭jaggeh

i know how lucky i am not to be an ignorant bitch.

ill know to mock whatever little problem you come up with next. let me know when you next get sand in your vagina. k thx bye.

While a joke, pickarooney has a point. if you replace your laces with any kind of cabling leave them untied and then close your eyes for 5 seconds. garunteed that they have tied themselves ;)

I imagine if such instances occured frequently it would significantly reduced your chances of scoring, which would significantly reduce your chance of breeding, which on the merits of this thread I can only conclude that, your having a negligible chance of procreating is a good thing.

what i usually do is tie my right shoe with more slack between the knot and shoe, means my shoe sits a little loose but its better than tripping myself up or my shoe falling off at an inappropriate moment.
