Help Wanted! - Need Ideas For Holidaying Alone

    Hi,

Im looking for any advice help or ideas anyone can give me on ideas for holiday destinations for a holiday for one (the one being me! )

Basically I am off work for a few weeks soon (end of July going into August), I'm looking to travel but unfortunately I will be on my own, I have a budget of about €1,500, just looking to travel somewhere interesting with a nice climate, just cant decide where!!
Im interested in the usual holidays that include sightseeing, sun, fun etc. and a driving holiday would also interest me, e.g Europe but I've found searches on the web to fruitless as most travel sites are geared towards familes/couples/students especially at this time of year.
Is there anyone out there who has been in a similiar sitiation, i.e. who has travelled alone and enjoyed it? love to hear of any locations you could advise.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Try getting an inter rail pass and just get the train around Europe.. should be pretty cheap and you will see some great stuff!

Thanks for that, good idea but I guess im after a single location or base with accomodation, I think inter-railing is something thats probably better done with company (not speaking from experience) but thanks for replying anyway.

    Id have to disagree.
I've interailled/travelled Europe both with friends & alone & both have their charms.
I did 7weeks last summer, all of which bar 10days, was on my own - but the ironic thing is that no day went by but that I was with some other people - you are forced to meet people & its not hard in hostels etc.
You will spend some time alone when sightseeing but hey, thats part of the experience.

€1500 will get you two weeks comfortable in Eastern Europe or 2weeks a little tight in central Europe.
You could just do a single country & see it very well if you're not adventurous enough for long journeys.

I dont know about 2weeks in a base with a car - i reckon your budget would be a little tight.

Croatia is a beautiful country Id highly recommend, just be careful where you stay/eat - in peak season parts of it are often as expensive as Ireland!

Further afield you could look at thailand ? Its really easy to travel in by yourself you meet loads of people
Flights would come in under 1000 euro and its very cheap once youre over there. Its also easy to get beach huts and single accomodation.
Besides that one place I keep thinking of hitting is turkey
You have istanbul ,loads of history around the country and there seem to be a lot of options for beaches sailing etc.
Barcelona also has a good mix of beaches and sociability .
Italy is easy to travel through but i found the accomodation a bit expensive .
croatia sounds lovely and very tempting but people i have met who travelled alone there have said it can be too quiet on your own .
