Well looky here, a gambling forum :)*(adds to favourites)

For those of you who enjoy betting as a form of entertainment/hobby, I would highly recommend golf betting.

It takes a bit of time to study the form, but all the form is available online and over a period of a couple of months, you really develop a feel for it.

'Horses for Courses' is more true for golf than it is for horses IMO ... you can narrow down your winner to a group of 20 players just about every week.

Bet on a unit stake basis, and back to win every time.

I select 5 players per week, and never a player who is less than 12/1
Bear in mind any favourite in golf (if Tiger isn't playing) is typically 8-10/1

If you keep your unit stake discipline, you can get ahead and substantially so.

Betfair is your best friend for golf betting, usually put the bookies odds to shame.

Picks from the Sportsman for the John Deere are David Duval and Stephen Leaney. Leaney I'd already backed, but Duval I avoided.

would be be backing these with the hope of laying them off on betfair later on at a shorter price?

if not, i would hate to see a 300/1 shot make it to a play-off and lose by 1 shot..

Since they are getting a bit jiggy on the golf forum about betting do we want to talk about bets on the open championship here ?

Remarkable sequence of first time winners in majors ...9 ? and last 15 have all gone to different players. Seen a few articles trying to reduce the field by excluding previous major winners. That just doesnt seem logical to me so working up my shortlist based by doing the opposite. Looking at G Mac and Kaymer as main bets but 25s on Rory seems big.

    Thoughts ?
