Whey or Casean?

    Quick question and Jon im sure you can help me out on this one now that you've got your flassy new shop!!! I know TQ will recommend what ever one is the most expensive of the two you have in your hand but I'm looking to know exactly which is better.

    While training for the marathon I was taking a 90+ casean protein shake as someone said to me its better designed for stamina and longer more edurance based sports. Cycling, running etc... Now I'm no longer doing long distance running and am working towards trimming the fat and building up. At the moment I'm using a body fortress whey protein supp on the advice of one of my gym instructors.

    Question is which one is best for building? Whey or Casean and what exactly are the differences between the two?

    Actually both have their advantages it is when you use them that is the important thing. Whey is faster at getting into your system so it is benefical to have it first thing in the morning or straight after your workout when you want to get protein into your system as quick as possible.
    Casein on the other hand is a a lot slower at gettig into your system so it is advantages to take this at night before going to bed or mid morning, basically times when you want a slower release of protein to get you through long periods. However if you put weigh in milk it becomes a slower release protein so quite a few people with a protein shke with milk before going to bed.
    So i personally would say whey is better as you can adapt it to do both. But hell if buying both gets your order over €50 euro you can use the €10 euro voucher at Jon's store;)

    A protein shake in the morning or afterwork is best for building.

    Add in a cup (150g) of cottage cheese before bed for a steady supply of protein while you sleep. Cottage chese is a source of Casean

    Yeah i take it with water first thing in the morning and then cerial when i get into work with some oj. Before bed I have it with a pint of milk and always wiht water straight after a workout.

    Go into a chemist or tesco and buy some Casilan 90 which is casein powder,mix it with your whey and you have all bases covered vis a vis absorbtion times and amino acid profiles.A good mix is 70-80% whey and the rest casein.Relying on whey as your only form of supplemntal protein is depriving your body of the full spectrum of amino acids.
