Does anyone know am I going to airport too early,My family and I are flying out to LA tomorrow from Heathrow at 10am,but we are getting an aerlingus flight from dublin to heathrow at 7am. We booked a taxi to pick us up at 3:30am to give us the 3hours check in time for a flight to USA.

But we just got off phone with relative in states,he feels we're going too early to dublin airport for our check in because flying from Uk they do the customs when we land in LA instead, if we were flying with aerlingus they insist on doing it before departure. Dont want to have to drag kids up in early hours when they could of got some extra sleep.

you only go through customs in dublin if you are flying direct from dublin to say LA.

you'll probably have to do customs in heathrow or LA.

don't quote me on this though

You should be fine. You will go through customs and border protection when you arrive in LA. Terminal 5 in Heathrow yeah? Have a good time. :)

You're flying to London at 7am - you do not need to be in the airport until about half five. Nothing will be open anyway.

You can't do US immigration here before flying to London - only when you are flying to the US.

Your Dub trip might be a bit early with kids? You may get delayed in Heathrow with security screening, but that would not affect when you showed up at Dub. LAX is often a pain clearing US Customs, so bring your patience with you.
