    Well all,

Hope someone can help, I will recently be made redundant from my factory job, I have a third-level cert but really feel this is not the job for me, I was wondering about going into the accountancy thing but was wondering where to start, Can I get a job as a accounting technician with no expierance and then do a course while working somewhere.........Or should I just pack it in and do an apprenticeship as a sparky???? i am 27. All advice welcome. Thanks

    Hi there,

Getting a start with the accounts technician is a great start. you might even be eligible for exemptions with your cert.

There's tonnes of work out there so I'd check the papers and irish jobs/monster.

Get the accounts technician and then decide if you want to stick with it.

Also check the websites of the likes of the 'Big 5' - PwC, Ernst & Young, etc (do a google search and you'll find the names). They will have a recruitment section which will show you how to get on one of their training programmes. Don't be put off if it all sounds difficult - you may be able to email a designated personnel person who deals primarily in sourcing people for that company and they will be able to advise you.

The very best of luck with this - i'm all for trying new careers. And often you will find employers prefer second or third jobbers. Certainly job advertisements even state this!!
