Just a quick message, for anyone who didnt feel like travelling all the way out from the city center to a Silat Training class. We finally be opening a Saturday morning class 11am starting Late August at Club Vitae Quality Hotel Sir Rogerson Quay Dublin 2. Due to the venue space we be only able to take 16 students, so if you like to attend and to Reserve a place send me a Private Message and I give you more details. We hope to have furthur new classes in the Blachardstown and Saggart areas set up in Sept, more info on this to follow...

    Hi Sorgan and Michael
Many thanks. Sorgan can you PM me who you are, it be great to know who you are, if thats ok. I'm glad you enjoy your time in Firhouse. Meant to get back to you, on the age thing on my teacher. Yeah we thought he was in his 50's not 68, his friend thinks he actually 71 to 73 so its hard to believe he can move still so fast and fluidly.

Michael, many thanks for the offer of help, I much appreciate that. You are very welcome to pop along some night to any class, as we have some elements of our training that cross over, and we could share some ideals

    Fair play to ya Liam!

If you're going to be situated in Coolmine in Blanchardstown I think we should rename the complex... to something like 'Ultimate super ninja training complex!!' or something..

So far theres Judo, Jiu jitsu, Kung fu, Karate, Tae kwon do, Korean sword fighting, Wu shu, Wrestling and now maybe silat....

We should all have a royal rumble!! :):):)

    jk

    Congrats again and good luck!

    -Luke

    Hi Package
It's a collective name given to a collection of fighting arts from mostly Indonesia, but also Malaysia, and other areas of South East Asia. The same way Kung Fu is to Chinese Arts.

There is thought to be around 800 styles of Silat, most of them fall into groupings like (Harimau or Cimande, or Guyong etc...) Each style has its own unique blend or concept of training. There is alays much confusing when its comes to Silat, because of this, as some styles are very combative, while others are very dance and others are religions and others sport only. It all depends on the style and the teacher.

The one thing they all do share is that they all counted as a "Way of life" an art form which blends with to you, in a way that it forms and develop along with you at what ever stage of life you at. The second thing all Silat styles must share the is same combat fighting priniciples. These two aspects are present in all forms of Silat.

The style of Silat I now teach is a "Cimande" style which is develop around 4 core subsystems which teachs different areas of Combat. If you like more details PM me or post here and I try to answer the best I can or look up
    www.silateurope.com.

    Hope this help
