    Oxegen 07 - 7th & 8th of July (acc to Hot Press)
Roskilde 07 - 5th to 8th of July with warm up starting the 1st (acc to their site)

I think next year's Oxe is gonna suffer alot from being on at the same time as one of Europe's biggest festivals next year, more acts will wanna play Roskilde than Oxegen and so mcd will struggle to fill the bill

Also after this years soulless, atmosphere-less gathering I'm not gonna be at Oxegen 07, Roskilde will have alot more to offer imo

    What you think?

After the weekend's 'action' they should move it to its spiritual home of Baghdad.

    Yeah, noticed this aswell.

I saw it as a good thing. MCD and Oxegen are only looking at a certain contingent and since Roskilde is four days long those who want to play both festivals can easily do so. The advantage is that with a handful of (big) festivals on at the same weekend, more acts will be willing to drop in on Punchestown.

Roskilde may be massive but I reckon a slot at Oxegen is a huge priority for most acts, especially those from the UK.

oxegen wont have any trouble attracting top bands next year as it and t in the park are basically the same festival and judging by it (t in the park) selling 35,00 tickets in 90 minutes for next year there'll be shortage of bands to play it

Do I want to be caught in a riot, get my sleeping bags and beer stolen, have someone piss and shit in my tent, have my tent set on fire when I'm in it, get my head kicked in by security, be threatened with rape and/or be stabbed to death by a drunken 17 year old who has just finished his Leaving Cert and is on his first weekend away from his parents??? Nah......

Fuck MCD and Oxegen, I'm looking elsewhere and Roskilde sounds appealing.

How much are tickets, prices at the fest and flights etc? Thanks

Was about 195 for the ticket with booking fees etc. Was about 170 for the flights though thats alot cheaper if you book now. I spent about 500 euro between the tuesday and the monday on top of that but Im not the most thriftiest of people. Its expensive but at least you get value for money on what you spend.

Dont forget its 4 days of music and 4 additional days of camping if you go from the Sunday which considering the difficulty we had finding a decent camping space is a good idea.

Renting a car and buying your beer in Roskilde town could also cut the price significantly. Also I didnt bother with any of the refunds. Every bottle, cup, etc is refundable for money... technically if you did a few hours cleanup everyday you could pay your way.

I just looked through the guide section of the roskilde festival website and i would seriously consider going next year, either that or glastonbury or download.

Slightly off topic, my oxegen wasn't so bad this year, the only bad point was the rain, i didn't have any run in's with security or any other scum and i wasn't camped near scum. Lucky i guess. I left sunday night so i missed riots and fires etc...

Just a point Roskilde is pretty crazy as well. They trash the campsite and burn tents on the last day as well. However theyd never go near non abandonned tents or harass other people unlike Oxegen.
