bios password

    hi,
    not sure if i'm in the right area to post this. I have a compaq armada 7792 pentium laptop that has a power on (bios) password. Is there any way to clear / byapss this?

    There should be a bios reset jumper you can use on the motherboard. You will then need to go into the bios and reconfigure everything if it works.

    Some systems allow you to reset the bios by holding down insert on the keyboard as you power the machine on.

    its a laptop so i dont think there is a reset jumper. EWheelChair i understand where your coming from but if i wanted to boost a laptop i'd do a bit better than a petium 266:) i've got the cmos batt disconnected so fingers crossed.

    Taking the cmos battery out for three or four days should do it, thats what i was going to sugest anyway.

    to speed up this process you should remove the battery and then create the circuit again between the two battery conectors with a paper clip or a piece of metal this should clear the bios password, well it has worked for me in the past.
