Also recommend them, and haze a prize promise, be careful when using other companies that in the quote they include the CDW and other extras. I was doing a quote the other day with hertz using a CDP code and it was cheaper but didn't include the extras like Argus does in all the quotes.

Try Expedia.co.uk they are good, also check expedia.com

Also consider Thrifty, they are a bit like Hertz and Avis except when it comes to price

I've used Argus rentals too and they're excellent.
I've also used http://www.carjet.co.uk too, but only for Spain so I'm not sure what they're like for the US.
You can also get good deals with Alamo for the US - http://www.alamo.com/

thanks for the help lads, i tried a few of the website above and it seems that argus are offering the best deal , but do these companies incl. insurance and what cover do you need while over there??

Argus are the best in my opinion. Used them for the last 3 rentals me and the girlfriend have made.

In terms of the insurance you have fully comprenesive but you have an excess to pay if there is a claim, it can be as much as the first €500. You can waive this by paying between €10 - €20 per day on top of the rental cost.

Rented a 1.3L for Oxegen last weekend. Collected it Friday and dropped it back Monday.

Rental was €77.
Got the complete excess insurance off Nova (rather than the agent, Budget) which cost only €12.

That's WAaaaaay cheaper than anything I've come across before.

I used thrifty last time I was in the states. They were the cheapest by far. Insurance can be expensive so check it out before you go
