DCU V DIT Accounting

Im planning on doing a masters in accounting. My problem is choosing between DCU & DIT because
    • DCU course is better known than DIT does it make a difference
    • DIT is really close to me and getting to DCU from Harolds cross is a pain which is a major factor
    • DIT class has only 20 people which I think is good
    • DIT course consists if a thesis worth 1/3 which is a lot
    • This is the first year of the DIT course
    • Ill know people goin to DCU
    • I will have to sit an external exam in september to do the dcu course

Any other things I should know? Is anyone doing accounting in DCU that could tell me more about it, how are the people in the year. What do people think I should go for.

Doesn't the 19A go straight through Harold's Cross? That goes directly to DCU. It's a much shorter commute than many people

With a masters, I think there will be less emphasis on reputation, but it is still worth something. The fact that it's only the first year in DIT counts against it, there are invariably teething problems

INTRA in DCU is a fantastic opportunity to have your foot in the door before you finish the course and at least have some expiereance working in your chosen field.

not that it matters because the OP wants to do a masters in accounting but the accounting course in DCU does not have intra. I've just finished it.

OP the DCU masters gives you exemptions from Professional 3 exams in ICAI i'm not sure what the DIT one gives you.

the dcu masters has a thesis as well but i don't know how much this is worth.

I know lots of people who have done the masters here in DCU and its quite tough but really worthwhile was the general conscenus

I think our masters accounting students would kick DIT's ones no problem, on a more serious note though DCU is a well respected college and well recognised within industry and for that reason id go with dcu.
    good luck with it

Cheers for the good advice. Its amazimg how few knew about the DIT masters. My 1st preference is Smurfit since i did m degree there. DCU is my second but being honest there is little in it. Id be happy with either.
