Is my friend being targeted?

One of my friend is a non-national living with his wife and a little kid. Last year on July 7th weekend after london bombings, someone threw eggs at his house late night. This year on the same weekend, his car's wing mirror was smashed on his drive way late night. Is he being targeted by some one? His family is shocked by this incident and fear whether these may be repeated. Should he complain to Guarda or will that make things worse?

Tell him to keep a log of anything suspicious that he might notice and report it to the Gardai.

Could be a mere coincidence. Perhaps check with the Gardaí if there have been other attacks on non-nationals in the area?

Why would complaining to the Gardaí make it worse? Of course he should complain. Others may have reported the same in the area.

If your friend thinks he is being targeted because of those two incidents almost a year apart then maybe he should target the doctor for some anti-paranoia medicine.

Unless there's more to the story, then some bored teenagers acting up in the middle of the summer holidays once a year does not a targeted person make.

    What?

I'd say report it to the police at least, can't say that two incidents (minor enough) a year apart could count as your friend being "targeted", but if there is something going on better to have it all recorded by reporting it.

The Gardaí had a campaign to recruit non-nationals - they are all probably still in Templemore, however - but do you seriously think in the light of this this, that reporting it would be a mistake????

Does your friend live on a busy street or a quiet cul-the-sac? City or country?
Racist targeting would prob be more direct, ie grafitti etc.
Broken side mirrors is common enough these days.

Pfft, eggs and broken mirrors happens to the best of us. Lots of young Anto McSkangs out there who just love being annoying gits and breaking stuff.

Yes, report it to the Gardai. May or may not be targeted. It would seem that being targeted would result in more frequent incidents?

Report it to the gardai anyway, they need statistics on anti social behaviour in the area or they just wont bother. If enough is reported they'll eventually increase patrols in the area and satrt hassling groups of scangers its all for the good.I wouldnt be too concerned that its some sort of anti-foriegner campaign at this stage, thats pretty tame stuff to be part of anything organised.
