The best place to start is at the beginning. Look at the stikies at the top of this forum section,. They deal witht the basic components of diet and exercise.

Weight gain is natural as the years progress primarily becasue of the decrease in lean muscle tissue. Lean msucle is metabolically active and thus burns alot of calories. With less msucle comes less calories burnt, so you may eat the smae food, but becasue you burn off less caloires you will put on fat.

It's imporssible to give specific advice without knowing your personal details and history such as what you eat, you current lean muscle mass, exercise regieme, prensent heart rate levels etc.

Read the FAQ's and stickies and see what you can do to change your diet. Wrote down what you eat and work out how many calories. Determine how many you actuall need and then reduce that ny 15% or apporximately 500 kcals.

This is all explained in great detail in the stickies, as well as advice on food selection and exercise - how mcuh cardio weights etc.

I'll tell you this much now. thier is no quick solution or fix. There are no pills you can take to trim down in week.

Eat a balanced and calories restriceted diet, with sensible food choices, exercise daily wiht medium paced walks for between 45 - 60 minutes and enjoy your regular weight training at least 3 times a week, and you will get the results you want. You can expect to lose between 1-2lbs of fat a week - any more and its muscle tissue which will mean that when yous top you will get fatter. This will allow you to set a goals and deadlines for your weight loss.

    I wish you the best.

You don't have to worry about weight training, or 6 mile jogs! My mother was in the same boat. I tweaked diet around a bit and she did some walking and lost 2 stone.
If you wish to post up what you would eat in an average day we'll try and change a few things around, and watch the results!

And remember crash diets do not work!
