A question... let's just you just won 10 million quid in the lotto. It's a pretty safe bet that most of us would give up working for good.

But what's the least amount of money that you'd give it all up for at the drop of a hat? 1 million? 3/4 million?

    Do tell....

To be perfectly honest, if i won 100 million euro id still work in some form, boredom would take over. I feel i need to take the bad to appreciate the good.

I'd still work, but any amount from 100k upwards and I'd set up my own business.

If I had enough money I would still work, set up my own buisness and provide more work for people such as myself who can't seem to find a job for whatever reason.
My buisness would provide some kind of valuable public service without charging excessive prices, fair but not ott.

To me, it would mean somthing more valuable than that though, it would mean I could concentrate on life as opposed to worrying about the next ESB, Phone or Gas bill to come through the letterbox.
I'd go on holiday for a couple of weeks once a year. (Havent gone on holiday in 9 years).
Id go into dublin city at least once a week for a meal or to socialise.
Id buy a wheelchair accessible car (to make the above possible).
I'd buy my sister a new accessible van so she could do the same.

    etc etc etc.......

Anything up to €1 million: I'd take a few months off work, buy a house, perhaps even do a 2-year postgrad course.
Anything over €1 million: I'd jump headfirst into self-employment.

I wouldn't give up work, I'd just change career to a drug-crazed porn star...

    €1m+:
I'd pay people to let me hang around their office. I'd hate to give up work.

I wouldnt give up work, id end up just getting bored. I would love to set up my own business so ideally if i won it would have to be a figure that would let me set that up, buy some property and give some money to loved ones to live comftorble

6 Mil would set me good for the rest of my life.
I'd buy an old rundown manor or victorian style house and renovate it myself. And I would still refinish furniture (I do as a hobby now) only I'd probably sell them. I'd also become a writer and start my own publishing house. I'd be having so much fun doing that, I wouldn't even think about work or think of it as being work.

I would also set up a scholarship for people who dream of going back to school to earn a better living for their families. Adopt maybe 10 students world wide every year and help them achieve their dreams.

I was recently unemployed for 4 1/2 months and if money weren't an issue, I'd still be home having a grand time of it!!!

Only trouble is... I actually have to start buying the darn tickets if I plan to win!!!

I'd get a job in McDonalds mopping floors, and have everyone wondering how I can afford to drive home in a souped up vanquish... when they ask, I'll just tell them it's all hard work and a can-do attitude.
Then I'd fly to Vegas and put it all on red.
    Then go on the dole.

I would really like to buy myself a house and car and set up my own business.

Orrr, I'd start my own luxury halting site... swimming pool, jacuzzi, room service... snooty English butler types flocking around, fetching milhk for the babbeh.
It'd also be my new reality tv show.

I'd keep working so that I could contribute to my field. But I'd be coming in in designer clothes a lot more!

I'd book a flight to the moon.
    Then onto the stock market.
"Buy, sell, buy, sell. I don't care, I want him fired!" etc

I'd only give up my job if I had maybe €5,000,000. Afterall, there's not much you can do with a million nowadays. Pay off your mortgage perhaps and have a decent holiday.

Agree with everyone else though, you'd need to do something, but I wouldn't be self-employed. Perhaps I'd do some form of charity work or assist with an animal shelter.

I'd definitely do a bit of travelling.

Man even if you only got a stinky 5% interest on 1 Million you would rake in 50,000 in interest.

To be honest up to 1 Million and im taking some time off and travelling the world.

Over 1 Million doing the same holiday for a few months and then working for charity / part time / urban angel - A team type operation.

If someone needs a lift somewhere, Im there. Someone needs help moving, im there, someone needs someone to wait in while the NTL bloke comes, im there.

Of course I'd work. Without some sort of aim or goal, life isn't worth living. Too many people turn to drink and drugs to preserve their sanity when they feel they have nothing to achieve in life other than gleaning pleasure from it. To know pleasure, you have to know pain.

Indeed. Seriously, 100 million euro, and you'd go back to work?

Get up at 11am. Walk downstairs to private gym. Spend five minutes on the treadmill before you get bored.
Have two breakfasts. Boot up machine. Play World of Warcraft for five hours. Have dinner. Spend quality 20 minutes with loved ones. Play CS/HL/WoW till bedtime.

    Bliss.

i'd need about 10 mil to live comfortably.

firstly, i'd buy a house for around 2 mil in ireland

also buy houses in italy, switzerland and america for bout 1 mil

    then give family 3 mil

spend 1 mil on cars, house furniture etc

finally put the remaining 3 mil in the bank and live off the interest and go on a few holidays a year.

i'd quit work instantly, but would like to take up a few hobbies and maybe even work in a safari park or the likes as i've always liked animals

It defeats the purpose of the dole as you will still have to look for work to be eligible to claim! Me, i'd work mornings only. I'd go mad without work to keep me sane!

I would honestly hand in my notice if I won anything over 20k. After settling my debts I'd have enough to travel for a nice period of time before having to work again.

A mil would set me up nicely, pay off the morgage and a few bills, buy a house in kildare with a bit of land, and maybe a little cheap cottage in Leitrim that I'd do up.Work a couple of nights a week for pocket money, bliss.

You must have no mortgage. A house in Kildare with a bit of land = 1M gone, in fact you might not have enough. As for "a little cheap cottage in Leitrim", trust me there's no such thing.

300K and I can guarantee I'd never work for someone else ever again, as long as the wife keeps her government job:D

But aren't you a millionaire already?

I wouldn't quit my job for anything less than 2million, living in dublin, you just couldn't ! :)

So with 2million+ , after the running around partying / traveling etc I'd probably just go back to college and / or do volunteer work!

And if older then 18... I think you need to get out a little more. Even gamers want to SEE more people.
