hey i just set up my new(er) computer yesterday and some very wierd things have been happeneing.. the most worrying being that whenever i go into certain folders (usually the folder i have family guy episodes in) it waits about 5 seconds then explorer encounters an error.. this happens everytime so i cant stay in the folder for longer than 5 seconds...

it happens too when i try to open a file in divx, i go into the folder where the video is and before i get the chance to click it the whole program crashes and shuts down

what the hell is going on???

Any chance of getting the error?

Sounds like a dodgy codec is causing it to crash as it tries to sample the file to create the thumbnail. Try re-installing your codec pack.

Grab a screenshot and post it up here if the error pops up again.

Or turn off the Thumbnails in that folder, in my film collection I have it on but trying to sort through 60+GB of movie files and thumbnail them is not a swift task.

i have them turned off.. the problem is still there... it seems to happen in while its gathering information about the files.. coz it would show about 2 times in the duration coplumn and then shut down..

and i cant turn off the duration column coz by the time i get the chance it crashes...
