Peugeot 306 Questions

hi all.

im pretty sure im gonna buy a 306 in the next few weeks, just wanna ask a few questions.

first of all, what engine do you recommend? i can afford insurance on a 1.4 petrol or the 1.9 turbo diesel.

secondly i want to tint the windows. is this still legal? i cant decide between dark black tints or mirror tints.

where is the best place to get windows tinted, i live in kildare, and how much would it cost roughly.

i have a sony xplod head unit from another car, where can i get a wiring kit to fit the 306?

also i have to 6 x 9s and two 12 inch xplod subs, is it possible to mount the subs on the rear shelf or will i have to buy a sub box?

and lastly, if anyone here knows of any nice subtle mods please let me know.

If you are considering only these two engines (1.4 petrol and 1.9 TD) I thing beter one is 1.9 TD. But you have to be shure that it is turbo diesel not only diesel. You did't write which yer you gonna buy, becous sins 1999 there was 2.0HDI engine. If you like something more powerful look on 1.6 16V petrol or even on 2.0 16V petrol.

no its turbo diesel.

im 19, can you imagine the quote on a 2 litre 16v engine!!!

So the answer is simple. If price of 1.4L petrol and 1.9TD is similar, you should go into 1.9TD.

There's no law or regulation on them,for your own sake dont go darker than medium smoke,by having limo black you can see shag all at night and will just be hassled by the cops.Theres a place in maynooth that do them,ill get you there number,expect to pay 250 - 280 for the 5 windows

Halfords or any car audio shop,ive installed sony Hu's on 206's before and no additional harness was needed,the ISO block plugs straight in.

You cant mount the subs on the rear shelf as there not "free air" they need to be boxed and ran off an amplifyer.The 6x9s can be used on the rear shelf and ran off your headunit

im not mad about dark tints id rather get the mirror tints, are these expensive?

they're the best I've seen for member related help for mods and ideas.. and a lot of what they do is about preserving the look and feel of the 306, rather than destroying them with stupid kits or nasty huge spoliers. I've a 306 and used this site once or twice for questions.. VERY helpful guys and gals!

they advised me to get a 2.0lt HDI and not the 1.9TD as it was better diesel technology and you get good one's cheap here up north with nice specs

I thought only the rear 3 windows were legal to tint now..

Hi im very new to this and everyone always says it when there new so i thought i would as well lol..
Tomaro i am hoping of buying the 306 lx 1.4 ltr. its simple car and very cheap for €800

I viewed it the orther day and theres a few things wrong with.

when i open the drivers side door none of the orther doors open its 5 Door.
but the key does open them all singly.

also the booth does not open.

also the stereo doesnt work but thats a simple fix.

how do i fix these problems

and would you recomend i buy it?
