Weekly Halo 2 Competition / Ladder

Greetings Gamers
The Xbox Live Gaming Centre on South William Street is hosting regular Halo 2 competitions every Friday and Saturday night from 8.00 untill closing time at 12.
The entry fee is 20 Euro and this ensures a solid night of gaming as after the competition people tend to play a few CTF games and the like.

The prize for winning will be 20 euro gaming centre credit and an Xbox game.
The runner up will recieve 20 euro gaming centre credit and third place will recieve 10 euro store credit.

The layout of the competition is as follows:

1st Round
Slayer Free For All
Map default weapon start
15 Minute Time Limit

after the first round the participants are put into 2 different groups and play within those 2 groups, the groups are picked at random.

2nd Round
King Of the Hill
Map default weapon start

3rd Round
Swat
Battle Rifle Start

4th Round
Popular choice (majority rules)
Map default weapon start

after the 4th round the groups are re-integrated for the final round

5th Round
Free For All Slayer
Map default weapon start

The maps for each round are picked by majority or people agreeing on them. generally - Midship, Ascension, Zanzibar, Lockout are used. But its open to what people want on the night within reason.




The top 4 scorers from these rounds then go into a series of 1v1's (consider it like being in the semi-finals of the world cup).
These 1v1's will follow Major League Gaming 1v1 rules

For referance - here they are :
Settings - 1v1 games
1. All settings listed below are those that are not default for Slayer.
2. Score to Win Round = 15
3. Round Time Limit = 30 Minutes
4. Suicide Penalty = None
5. Starting Weapon = Carbine
6. Weapons on Map = No Duals
7. Map = Warlock

the round time limit in the store will be no longer then 15 minutes as we have certain closing times, 30 minutes is just too long. also there is no score to win, so whoever is in the lead after 15 minutes wins (like Pro PC 1v1 games, Quake, Unreal etc.)

The people who take part who want to be entered into the Summer Ladder will be.
The scoring system is similar to other online FPS game ladders you would find on sites like Clanbase.

Towards the end of the summer, the highest ranking players will be entered into a grand final event where big prizes would be up for grabs.
Details about that event woill be released when availible.

is it played on 360's or just the original? and also what tv's are the games played on? are they all the same size etc?

Default weapon start on maps like Ascension and Zanzibar is a bad idea, because a decent sniper will destroy against smg's. Ascension is particularly bad for spawn rape etc.

It is played on orginal xbox with 26" high def samsung tvs.

The maps and weapon selections are open for discussion, we will use whatever the players are happy with.

Erm, Correct me if im wrong but they are 360s in the Xbox Live Centre? Ive been there 3 times and ive never seen an "oul big black box"....

Never ventured up them stairs..... will do next time!

Some peeps prefer Halo 2 on the old box, I like it on the 360 more, specially the joypad is way better (IMHO)....
