Advice Needed

Ok, I have a tiny problem. I've been in a good few bands in the last 2 or 3 years - the only reason ppl left them was the distances we all had to go to get to practises and other small problems.

Now, I've found a group of lads who live nearby, are sound enough and all but, without being big-headed about it, just not at the same level of playing as myself.

The drummer, bassist and other guitarist are all playing just over a year and just want to stick with simple 3-chord covers. No interest in trying anything unless it can be learned in under 5 minutes. They do feck all practise outside of the band practises and then give out when I suggest a slighty harder song or two.

In the last while I've been messing around and writing a few decent sounding songs (IMO) - stuff they'd be well able to play, but no interest - because it's "too much effort".

Would I be better off just leaving the band and finding some others who take it a bit more seriously or what? It'd be a shame tho because they all live close enough and it's easy to organize practises etc etc

    Ideas?

what you gotta ask yourself is can you ever see this band that dont want to work on the music ever doing anything more then playing in a practise room?

been in that situation before man , and my advice would be sooner rather than later you'll get pissed off and leave so you may as well start looking now , once someone doesnt wanna do the work it's very hard to get them to do anything

Depends are they getting paid gigs to make it worthwhile? Ive no problem playing ****e songs with ****e bands if its making decent money but otherwise id say your heads gonna be very wrecked very soon. if they're making money why not just play with them and start something interesting yourself with other people?
