    Hammer, tbh.

Otherwise, Partition Magic - and read the help files with it. Then, re-read them. And once more... Then backup your data before screaming at yourself and the machine.

I would advise using something other than Partition Tragic. :)

I usually do it before I re-install windows. With the windows CD.

I re-install windows every few months so if there needs to be changes they are
    put on the waiting list.

BiNG or Boot-It Next Generation every time.

    Then:-
    Backup
    Resize existing partition
    Add partition(s)

Partition Majoc worked a treat for me, on a number of occasions.

Nothing wrong with Partition Magic - apart from its price! ;)

Partition Magic works very well....99% of the time.
As said before...backup before using. I didn't once and spent several hours banging my head against the desk. I'm still rebuilding my music collection 6 months later

fdisk all the way baby :D . But like was said, I'd only ever partition during a fresh install, and usually the OS being installed allows you to partition during setup. Otherwise I leave it as it is until another fresh install.

Why may I ask are you looking to partition your drive?
