Would plates in lbs bother you?

    As many of you know I am starting bringing in heavy duty home and commercial gym equipment. I have found a really great source but the plates he has are in lbs... I would be able to offer 300lb (136kg) sets including a 1000lb rated 7' bar for 199euro... The plates also have a handle so I really like them.

    The plates are very similar in weight:
    45lb=20.4kg
    35=15.9
    25=11.3
    10=4.5
    5=2.3
    2.5=1.1

    I can get kilo plates from china but as I would only be ordering a smaller order the costs go up a bit, I could probably sell them at 249euro for a 140kg set.

    Would you prefer kilos for the extra money?

    me personally i will lift anything once it is heavy and i know what weight it is, ye it can be a slight pain in the arse when you mix gym and home workouts but even then the slight incremental difference between the 2 would make it easier to move up to a higher weight.

    Oh and just to say i happened to see photos of some of the gear mickk may be selling and it looks pretty sweet and if he does manage to get the equipment in at the prices he thinks (or even if it slightly dearer) it will be excellent value for money

    edit: mickk i would at least get some sets in lbs to sell as if you can sell them at less then €200 I'd say quite a few people would but them rather then splashing out the extra €50 just to have things in kilos.
    one other thing is there not some stupid EU law stating that everything has to be sold in kg or grams

    Plates in pounds wouldn't bother me at all. And 199 sounds like very good value.

    VJs do a 142.5 kg Olympus set for 220 (doesn't seem to be listed on their website but they do sell it in the showroom) Also they do a York set for 285. Neither of the sets have handles in the plates.

    Wouldnt bother me either. Would actually be handy for allowing yourself to add just a few lbs each time to a set

    Mmm didnt know that, I might have to find a cheaper supplier for the plates so, drop the price a bit more, just to really rub it in :D
    I know I can blow them out of the water for just about everything else especially the dumbells.

    Mickk, how the hell am I supposed to build masses of muscle with lbs? It's been scientifically shown that only the awesome power of kgs will add serious muscle mass. Think about it, what would you rather get out of your training? 2lbs of added lean muscle or 2kgs? I know what I'd choose...

    ...so basically 'no' it wouldn't bother me in the slightest. :D

    .....only if i couldn't find enough to be unable to move the bar eventually. :D

    As i said on Saturday, price would be more important than anything....maybe just have a pounds to kilo conversion guide to go with them???

    lbs or kg doesn't matter a fcuk as long as they are heavy

    wouldnt bother me at all.

    i was reading an article recently about a weightlifting club in australia back in the 50's that produced some world champs. They didnt use either lbs or kilos or even plates.

    They used axle's from a scrap yard!!!

    It doesnt matter what it is as long as you can lift it without injuring yourself

    Deffo go for lbs it sounds more impressive when people ask what you lift. Leg pressed 24lbs for 7 reps last night myself.

    24lbs on the leg press - heavy session then!

    Gotta squat man, leg press is quite good for hanging my towel on though
