disaster rig not booting

Just got up to my rig which is dead as a stone:( went to bed last night and everything was fine left it running as I always do got up this morning and no fans running and monitor light blinking.
So opened up case and no led lights on board but all components were warm to touch i.e hard drive, cpu cooler.

So next I stripped it down to basic components (cpu/graphics card/ram) and uplugged everything else, then I plugged in my PSU and plugged in the ATX power and left the +12 unplugged and the led came on when the board was powered up all fans started spinning and it sounded normal but no monitor signal/bios beeps

I then plugged in the +12 connector and booted up again but no fans would spin up just a bare sound of life (split second) but unplugging +12 it would boot up to all fans spinning but no monitor signal.

What do u guys think is the board wanked or is it the PSU.

Specs PSU Antec 430w, Asus A8n Deluxe, 3700 stock speed, Gainward 7900gt, 2gigs

I'd give it a few hours rest.

Started happening to one of my machines a while back, leaving it stand for a couple of hours seemed to resolve it (until the next time).

If that doesn't work, probably the board, even without the CPU you should get some reaction from the board iirc.

Grab another PSU if you have one around and give that a go, see if it works.

I would love to but I dont have one. Do you think I could buy one in PCWorld and then return it for refund if it is not the PSU.

Right i took out the cpu and powered up minus the +12 connector and got "no CPU installed" voice so I think (fingers crossed) its pointing the PSU because with the +12 it refuses to do anything

My point is you get a reaction out of the board when the processor is removed. You get no reaction from the board when the processor is fitted.

Put the CPU back in and take out the RAM. If you get a beep power down and start to add the RAM back in one stick at a time. See if you get anywhere.

I've seen this happen before where one bad stick can cause the system to hang.

Thanks for the replies but have tried new psu and no joy so looks like I will have to RMA the m/board.
