Ireland & Eurovision.

I am just wondering what are everybody’s memories of Ireland presenting the Eurovision Song Contest? Obviously seeing that we had such a good record in Eurovision there has to be lots of memories in either Dublin or Mill Street.
My memories that come to mind are of course Riverdance (Dublin 1994) with Gerry Ryan & Cynthia Ni Mhurchu. What a fantastic interval, the best ever in the contests history. The huge stairs that Mary Kennedy had to come down to present the contest and the great enjoyment she showed while greeting the audience. Eurovision just seemed to be a large part of family life in Ireland and we all seemed to watch it. The there was Carrie Crowley & Ronan Keating which was great in 1997. The winners were so good The Voice, Rock “N” Roll Kids, “In your eyes” “Why me?”, “What’s another year”, “Hold me now” & “All kinds of everything” such a good record for a small country.

What are your memories associated with Ireland and Eurovision?

What do you think we should do for next year’s entry? Personally, I think we need to send out a woman with a really good magical Celtic Irish song, what do you all think?

I really hope Ireland win again and get to host the contest as we always done such a good job and took pride it. Who would you like see host it???

Let’s get the great memories flowing…

It would probably be the Riverdance but then again when I think of an Irish entry into the Eurovision, I think of the Eurosong episode from Father Ted.

"Wait I get can this one *doinnnggg*..nnnnigggghhht" :)

    My memories:
    1- Cheese.
2- My auntie saying about some backing dancer for Spain one year, "He's probably gay".

I can remember, and this isnt something I'm proud of, experiencing an early frisson of sexual excitement as a young lad while watching Bucks Fizz whipping off their spangly skirts....ever since then i've had a fetishistic weakness for English Slappers who'll whip their skirts off at the slightest provocation....Oh God I've just realised what a wholly disproportionate and negative effect the Eurovision has exerted on my life.....whimper....snivel......
