    Ok

Go to the appalingly badly maintained http://broadband.gov.ie/

search for a town with ADSL , Mountbellew County Galway

a fine list of VSAT Providers only appears. But Mountbellew has ADSL and Lastmile on the eastern fringe too.

On top is A Line Tester for DSL

Click on it. Enter a sampler of the following numbers

    090 9679100
    090 9679101
    090 9679102
    090 9679103
    090 9679104
    090 9679105
    090 9679106
    090 9679107
    090 9679108
    090 9679109
    090 9679110
    090 9679200
    090 9679201
    090 9679202
    090 9679203
    090 9679204
    090 9679205
    090 9679206
    090 9679207
    090 9679208

Hey presto. Eircom want to sell you DSL Broadband...but what of the other Bitstream Operators who would equally be happy to sell you Broadband and why does the site not clarify this equality of access and why is the technology choice presented as simply??

    Satellite or Eircom !!!!!

We can't have this what with the government spending loads of money pimping their site, can we :( ???

Which immediately leads to the eircom 'sign up here' link

Why does the government not have a line 'meta checker' in place which gets the results and presents every BITSTREAM operators sign up page as a series of links, randomly rotated or alphabetically listed I care not ???

Jam the signals by sticking your head inside a microwave and switching it on.

Absolute guarantee that you won't be bothered by anything anymore.

I think the Government regularly forgets that eircom plc is NOT Bord Telecom Eireann and thus shouldn't be treated any differently from any other commerical telco.

They seem to often rely on eircom to act in the public interest as it would have had to do when it was the state telco in the olden days.

The service extends out (based on the numbers I checked) as far as Marless (hmm note to self, check sign for speiling next time ya pass) at the Roscommon turnoff (N63 Galway side) Just about 750ish Mtrs from me....

The online checker tells me that they can't pre-qualify me at this time and to please call our BB team...I've never tried numbers from the other side...

On the upside of things I was getting loads of calls wanting to know if I was happy with my provider :D Soooo I tells them you gimmy me BB and I'll swop...they never call back...So all's not too bad....Well apart from the fact I have to post in IT assignments...Coz I sure as well can't email/upload them..
Ahh well..Time to wind up da telly again...Jim Kirk is on....@ 7

the idiot spent half a million advertising broadband, knowing full well loads of us who are offline cannot get it and have no hope of getting it any time soon.

Why not spend that money subsidising Vodafone 3G rollout to a few rural areas.

The stupid little ****ing $&%£ - completely agree with nipplenuts.
