I'm heading to Venice in August, from 14th to 21st, and was wondering if anyone had any tips re: travel, customs, foods etc.
    thankx

Well its in the EU so no problems with customs really unless you are bringing in a separate plane load of ciggies.

Venice is truly lovely but its going to be roasting hot in august.

You can travel around on the valmettos(water busses) get a weekly ticket at your hotel or at the airport.

It's expensive but fun to get a water taxi straight from the airport to your hotel.

Dining is not that expensive but drinking is on a par with home I thought.
You will be mesmerised by the amount of café's/restaurants in the place.

If you are in around st marks sq at night there are a few restaurants there with their own orchestra entertainment.
Dont sit down though, as the seating is for eating and charged for, just hang about and listen while they do their sets.

Also and I highly recommend this depending on how long you have,go to the train station and take a day trip to milan or Verona and dine on the train, its very orient express like :)
