Motion sickness

I'm in Northwest Thailand at the moment, near the border with Myanmar and the roads are extremely windy. They're basically a series of steep hairpin bends. My girlfriend gets pretty bad motion sickness. She managed to make the last journey just about, but we have a fair few more like that one (or worse) ahead of us, especially since we'll be going to Laos in the next 10 days or so.

She is taking Malarone tablets for the old Malaria prevention but it says not to take motion sickness tablets (any antibiotics etc....) with it. She has Motilium (I think that's the right one) but can't really take it for the aforementioned reason. Is there anything natural or otherwise that she can take or do to make life a little easier? Any precautions, excercise....anything?

Can you ever become used to that sort of travel and stop getting motion sickness?

Ginger is very good for stopping travel and motion sickness. I always pack a few ginger nut biscuits when I'm travelling!

Yeah, ginger can be good. There are little grey bands with a plastic pressure thing in them called Sea Bands that you wear on your wrists that can also help. I don't know if you can pick them up in Thailand though.

    Here they are:
