just read through the first 4/5 threads all locked due to pretty small reasons...
ahhh reminds of world cup referees so it does!
in seriousness though whats up with the mod?
I surprised I'm posting here actually - I mean shouldn't this be moved to helpdesk or feedback..now come on tintin get your groove on.

Lets hold off, he's definately over reacting big time but lets give him the opportunity to change his mind.

Slagging the mod is only going to make him fight his corner.

I'd say pm all 3 mods, in no response, pm the Cat mods. Still nothing (which i doubt) go to the feedback.

No point having a thread like this here.

However if you are posting something that you think could be a problem, label it not safe for work.

Stay on topic,
-Repeated posting of nonsense will result in a ban.

Don’t be a troll.
-Lack of knowledge is perfectly acceptable; the forum is here to help. Trolling disrupts the flow of the forum and pisses everyone off tbh.


These rules are of course subject to change.

There is nothing in the charter that states "threads that people don't find interesting and will sink anyway will be locked". Nor should there be.

There's a *big* difference between threads descending into anarchy and bringing down the tone of the board, and threads that organically wither away.

Although I may now get banned because I broke one of the rules: "If you have any questions/queries, please feel free to PM me!" Well, I did that first. Now I'm publicising my dissent.

i have re opened 2 of the locked threads, the others i wont budge on because i feel they have run their course!!!

Sinecura you are banned for a week for that little bit of abuse!!

had a look at the forum...and tintinr35, as a mod i can understand the need to keep things tidy, on topic etc etc. But i think in some threads you might have been too quick (and to harsh) with locking them.

You didnt need to lock it, you could have left it with your first comment, and i'm pretty sure O fiach would have informed you, which in turn would have led to more discussion.


Your not a bad mod, just need to remember the smaller forums like the ones we manage do not need to have as much aggressive modding as after hours or politics, cause 90% of the time only people interested in the material will visit them and by being so harsh your putting off people who would otherwise make the forum.

Anyway, back to serious face, of all the threads on the front page, I don't think any of them should be locked. It would be wise to unlock them I reckon.

I mean the one where you close the thread with a one word reply "Google" is seriously rude. Fair enough if it's a busy forum where you have people asking the same stupid questions over and over, but on a quiet forum, you don't want to scare off people who might start by asking little trivial questions before getting settled in and contributing more to the discussoins.

I just got back from cork today, I had left those threads open as i didn't have a problem with them, i've messaged tintin_35r about the closure of threads.
I didn't think anything much would have happened while i left since there isnt much traffic and i'd left a thing in the mod forum asking if someone could have a look in etc.
I'll wait for him to message back and see what the story is.

ok i have reopened all but one after the coments both here and in the mods forum, although i still think that i was justified in my actions, the threads were going no where and one had gone totally off topic from the original post!
