    Hi Everyone,

i've said in posts before that my big downfall is breakfast. I don't eat dairy, both taste and health reasons.

I've just got a smoothie maker, does anyone have any dairy free smoothy recipes which would be a good breakfast?

thanks for all the help (in advance!)

Hve you tried soy milk or Rice millk? Healthy and tasty alternatives!

i've only ever tried soy yoghurts and i didn't like them. if rice or soy milk taste anything like regular milk then I wouldn't go for it. I really don't like the taste of milk.

    are they similar in taste?

    OJ
    One or two Bananas
    Natural Yoghurt
    One or two Eggs
    Handful of Frozen Berries

Blend em up. Very nice and good for you. If you have Udo's Oil you can lash some in too and you're on to a winner.

is there anything i can substitute the yogurt with?

    OJ,
    pineapple,
    mango,
    strawberries,
    30g banana/vanilla protein powder,
    banana,

now i have never tried it with oats but i am sure you could throw some oats in their aswell. Truthfully the key is in the first week, basically get a lot of fruit and then through trial and error come up with something that you like.

Also i think it is funny that no matter how many times you have asked for dairy free smoothies, everybody comes back to you with something containing yoghurt. cause yoghurt isn't dairy;) :D:D:D

its like people offering my vegatarian sister "wafter-thin ham".

I'm going to try that out. The rest of my diet is grand so once I have breakfast sorted it should all start falling into place.

    thanks for the help!

Ah yes, forgot about the dairy-free aspect. No need to substitute the yoghurt, just don't put it in.

I'm not supposed to eat dairy either but I put yoghurt in smoothies. I always think of smoothies as a juice drink with yoghurt in it.

Rice milk flavoured with vanilla is delicious. I hate hate hate soya stuff and this rice milk is a great alternative. My brother is vegan and introduced me to this alternative and like I said I think its great. My favourite smoothie is this:
    Frozen strawberries
    1 banana,
    Orange Juice
    rice milk
    tiny bit of honey

    Also like this one
    frozen strawberries
    frozen raspberries
    1 banana
    1 necterine
rice milk ** this one is totally vegan friendly the first one isn't due to the presence of honey.

I can't either and it tastes nothing like milk. Its not as gloopy in your mouth and doesn't cling like a film to the inside of your mouth the way ordinary milk does. I can't really describe what it tastes like but its not bad trust me. It certainly is much much nicer in smoothies than milk or yoghurt. You can get it in your supermarket in the same place as they stock the long life milk and other health foods and in a health food shop, however its much more expensive in a health food shop so go with the supermarket. Tesco do their own brand of rice milk.

I drink soya and there's LOADS of different flavors/varities - have you tried different ones or just tasted one you didn't like that put you off? Also if you're putting it in a smootie you'll taste the fruit more than you taste the soya/rice milk. I make mine with
    1 banana
    handful of strawberries
a small bit of peanut butter-say half a teaspoon
    half pint of soya milk
