    What are you entitled to when an airline doesn't get your bags to your airport when you arrive??

    You arrive on a Sunday and the bags wont arrive till Thursday

    The official line is that....

    There are no set regulations stating the compensation payments for delayed luggage. In general most airlines take the view that once your bag has turned up you will have future use of the contents.

    Some airlines offer immediate one-off cash payments at a set amount to cover emergency purchases until the delayed bag is delivered. Others will pay a set amount per day, up to a maximum number of days.

    Other airlines do not make immediate cash payments, but prefer to reimburse a passenger’s expenditure on essential purchases and will often therefore insist on seeing receipts.

    Depends on the airline. Eu regualtions say the following:

    You may claim up to 1000 SDR(*) for damages caused by the destruction, damage, loss or delay of your baggage on a flight by an EU airline, anywhere in the world. If the airline does not agree with your claim, you may go to court.

    For damage to checked-in baggage, you must claim in writing within seven days of its return and for delayed baggage within 21 days of its return.

    You can claim from the airline with which you have a contract or from that actually operating the flight, if they are different.

    Amusing line from Ryanair's Passenger Charter:
    In the case of any mishandled bags, Ryanair will make every reasonable effort to deliver the mishandled bag to the passenger within one working day of its arrival at final destination, free of charge.

    My bags missed a connection when I flew Dublin/Philadephia/San Francisco last year with US Airways. I bought some essentials (toiletries) and filed for reimbursement when I got home.

    Sunday - Thursday is a big delay - do they only fly on those days? I'd guess that you can keep buying essentials, which will include to underwear at that stage.

    They flew to Gozo in Malta from Gatwick.

    But the flight got over booked so they were offer to travel through marseilles with compo.

    They were given 25 local pounds to buy essenitals but still a long time without your bags.

    Not sure the airline as if the girlfriends mother and only means of contact is when they ring as mobile phone charger is in the back.

    I told them to keep receipts for everything they buy
